In today's world, there are religious and hateful organizations that are focused on forcing kids into their own religion and way of thinking. As Satanists, we believe that children should be allowed to decide if they want to be religious, and choose which religion they join. These are our answers to the main questions that you may ask.

=========  RELIGIOUS QUESTIONS  =========

Which religion should I choose?

You should choose whichever religion you believe fits you the best. You can join or leave a religion at any point, or even choose to have no religion, which is completely fine. There is nothing wrong with having or not having a religion as long as you aren’t using it to hurt anyone.

Are any gods real?

Nope! According to our best scientific understanding of the world, there is no such thing as a god, a Jesus, or any such being out there. Based on testimony from historians, every god comes from human imagination, where humans invented gods and the books discussing them to understand the world better. This is why many countries around the world are seeing a decrease in their numbers of religious people.

Is Satan/Lucifer real?

Nope! We as a Satanic website use the symbol of Satan in rebellion of societal conformity, rather than because we believe in the character. There is no scientific or historical evidence that proves the existence of a literal Satan.

My friend or parent told me I’m “going to hell.” Should I be scared?

Nope! There is no such thing as hell. Just like Satan, it is a fictional creation used to scare children and adults into following their church’s rules. Scientists and even religious leaders have never proven the existence of such a place, so there is nothing to worry about.

If there is no heaven or hell, where will I go when I die?

Based on current science, there will be no place we go afterwards. However, it is not healthy to think about it. Instead, we encourage everyone to think about the current moment and live every day to the fullest. When someone dies, be proud and happy that you gave them an amazing life and spent as much time as you could together.

My parents want me to join their religion and believe in their god, should I?

You should only do so if you personally want to, regardless of what your parents believe. If you want to go to church for example, you can go. But if one day you don’t want to go, your parents shouldn’t force you. If your parents are forcing you to join their religion, it’s a good sign that the religion is not safe to join at all.

Is it wrong to not believe my parents’ religion?

Nope! You don’t have to agree with everything your parents tell you to believe in. If they can’t accept that you don’t believe in their god or religion, that’s their fault, not yours. Remember, you are your own person, and you don’t have to be a clone of your parents.

Is it wrong for my parents to be divorced?

Nope! While divorce can be very difficult, it is often necessary for the happiness and safety of all partners involved.

Is it wrong for my parents to hit each other?

Yes! If your parents are violent to each other, you should tell a trusted adult that is not your parents, or the police as soon as possible. There is no reason that your parents should be hurting each other.

Is it okay to be LGBTQ+?

Yes! Throughout history and science, being LGBTQ+ has been proven as completely natural and healthy. The only reason people believe otherwise are churches and mean groups trying to bully others for who they are.

What pronouns should I use for myself?

You should use the pronouns you prefer the most. Whether you identify as a "he," a "her," a "they," or another pronoun, your gender-identity and pronouns are chosen by you, rather than any other person or religious character.

Should I use my classmates pronouns when talking to them?

Yes! It is respectful to use a classmate’s preferred pronouns, and disrespectful to refuse to do so. It can really brighten someone's day when you call them whatever they want to be called.

Would it be okay if I changed by gender?

Yes! You should identify and dress however you like, regardless of how your parents or adult figures think. Some people will be born male, but feel more comfortable dressing in traditionally-female clothing, which is completely okay and normal.

Is it normal to be in same-sex relationships?

Yes! If you and other person are both in love with each other, both of you are similar ages, and both want to be in a relationship, then go for it. There is nothing wrong or unhealthy about dating someone who is the same gender/sex as you. In fact, some animals will get into same-sex relationships with each other.

Is it okay to have sex before I’m married?

Yes! As long as you and your sexual partner are old enough, engage in sex safely, and both agree to sex, you can engage in sexual activity, regardless of if you both are married.
